What is Opportunity Enterprises?
Opportunity Enterprises, also known as OE, is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting self-sufficiency and life choices for challenged individuals. Since 1967, OE has provided a variety of services to adults and children with disabilities. These include the All About Kids educational service, an adult day center, group homes, job placement, outsourcing, and community integration.
Why join the OE Marathon Team?
In addition to the privilege of running for an organization that is changing lives everyday, and the knowledge that you are directly benefiting the clients we serve, you will receive several other benefits as part of the OE marathon team:
- Complimentary race entry
- Exclusive race day warm-up and reunite area with restroom facilities in Charity Village
- Team shirt
- Transportation to and from Northwest Indiana to the start/finish line
- Catered pasta dinner in Northwest Indiana the day before the race
What will I need to do?
In addition to training for the marathon, you’ll be asked to raise money for OE. If you register before midnight on the day the Bank of America Chicago Marathon officially closes, you will pay a registration fee of $100 and will be required to raise at least $200 in addition, for a total of $300.
If you register after midnight on the day the Bank of America Chicago Marathon officially closes, or on any subsequent days following it, you will pay a registration fee of $200 and will be required to raise at least $500 in addition, for a total of $700.
All fundraising monies must be submitted to the Marathon Team Coordinators no later than September 2, 2008.
How does the Training Work?
Training runs for local Northwest Indiana runners will be held on Saturdays and Sundays in Porter County at 7:00 a.m. beginning June 14, and in Lake County on Sundays at Wicker Park in Highland at 7:00 AM beginning June 15, 2008. The Galloway program will start April 5, 2008 at 8:00 AM at OE in Porter County.
