OE Marathon Team

The OE Marathon Team started in 1999. Expectations were uncertain as we gathered local runners to train for The LaSalle Bank Chicago Marathon while raising money for the clients of Opportunity Enterprises.

The first year 75 runners took to the street and raised $37,000. Since then, more than 2.500 OE Runners have raised over $1 million for children and adults with disabilities. The 2009 OE Marathon Team was one of seven official charity participants for The Bank of America Chicago Marathon with more than 475 runners, raising over $220,000 for the amazing programs offered within our agency.

Our goal for 2010 is to build our biggest and best Marathon Team ever, with more than 500 runners. Additionally, we have recently been awarded a $2 million challenge grant from the Dean & Barbara White Foundation to establish Lakeside Opportunities facilities to engage the growing populations of clients with disabilities.  Each dollar of your fundraising efforts will be matched with one dollar from the Dean & Barbara White Family Foundation. For more information on our Lakeside Opportunities Campaign, please visit www.oelakeside.org.
